Providing a range of high quality technical services without which no modern research laboratory can function. The CSC Safety team has a responsibility to provide guidance and information to over 400 scientists and staff members working within the Institute.
Technical Services
The Technical services team at the CSC support our researchers by ensuring their laboratories & facilities are built & maintained to the highest standards. We provide a range of support services for all members of the CSC including postal & courier deliveries, small porterage, liquid nitrogen provision, a labcoat laundry service, glassware & media preparation and a full range of autoclave sterilization protocols.
Health & Safety
The site was created to provide you with information
and guidance to help you work safely, it contains information on a variety of health and safety topics
including: biological safety, chemical safety, first aid,
manual handling and a variety of other topics.
Following an accident or near miss, you can download an incident report form from the website as well as
guidance on accident and incident reporting. This will help the Safety Team carry out an investigation into the incident or near miss, to try and find the root cause of the incident and prevent recurrence as well as ensuring any statutory reporting requirements (such as RIDDOR) are complied with.
A large number of example COSHH Assessment and general risk assessment forms are available on the site for you to use as guidance. Of course, if you need further help when assessing your workplace risks, you can still contact the Safety Team.
