This is the academic timeline for full-time PhD students. Part-time students have a 72 month deadline.
Assessment of Postgraduate (PhD) students
The procedures applying to students registered after 1 October 2010 are laid down in the Student Handbook, beginning on page 13. Procedures for student registered prior to 1 October 2010 are in Appendix E of the handbook. Imperial College Academic and Examination Regulations are available here.

Every postgraduate student is assigned two academic mentors to assess their progress and provide support throughout their studentship. Guidelines for PhD Mentors are available here and in the Student Handbook.

Information for supervisors on recruiting and training students, requirements to be a supervisor and procedures for common problems that arise, are in the Guidelines for Supervisors and the in the Student Handbook.
